The color-coded displacement sensor is the first demonstrator of the software-defined optics solutions. It uses the usually-unwanted chromatic aberrations to code the wanted depth information. By leveraging on data and on-board computing,  the displacement is extracted from the aberrated optical signals. The sensor is of high precision, high speed, and long measurement range. It can be customized to other specifications and applications.
